The Colin Sure Start Early Years Team deliver a wide and varied range of programmes, suitable from birth, right through to the child’s fourth birthday. Our early years programmes are designed with our local families in mind, and our aim is to provide activities that can cater for all interests and abilities. 

At Colin Sure Start, we strongly believe that the parent is the most important educator in their child’s life, therefore, we strive to involve parents and carers in each programme we offer. 

Our programmes include a whole range of Postnatal programmes for babies from 0-1 year old, which are generally facilitated by our family support team. Once children are up on their feet and active, a new set of age and stage appropriate programmes kicks in, offering parents and children great opportunities to extend their play, explore with curiosity and develop social interactions and communication in groups of their peers. Programmes such as Learn to Explore, Outdoor Explorers and our Parent and Toddlers offer great opportunities for children to play and have fun in social environments with other children their own age, which is so important for their development at this stage. Tiny Talkers is another programme to support early language development,  along with our physical development programmes such as Aquababes and AquaToddlers, events throughout the year, and then for children in their pre-Nursery year (when they are 2 years old) our Developmental Programme for 2-3 Year Olds, Play2Learn programmes and Little Rainbows groups, all supporting children with high quality peer play experiences before starting Nursery the following year. 

You will find that inclusion and supporting families has a strong focus embedded in our Early Years Services. We aim to reflect the needs and interests of the families within the Colin area in each service we plan and deliver. Our Early Years management and staff work closely with a range of external agencies and organisations, to ensure that signposting is appropriate and timely. These strong links ensure we are able to provide families with the support they require and the expertise of these other agencies in incorporated into the programmes we deliver internally. Our Early Years and Speech and Language support teams continuously work in close partnership together.  This allows for professional speech and language therapy advice to be available for local families at their request.
